BICE
(Balloon-borne Infrared Carbon Explorer)
The Balloon-borne Infared Carbone Explorer (BICE) is a
small observing system dedicate to make large-scale observations
of the far-infrared [CII] line emission at 158 micron. It was launched
7 times from Sanriku Balloon Center (Japan), National Scientific
Balloon Facility (Texas, USA), and Alice Springs Balloon Base
(Australia). It surveyed variou areas including:
the Galactic Plane, Cyg-X region, rho-Oph
cloud, LMC, and the Orion regions.
